The Camping grounds we are at, are called Le Truc Vert (http://www.trucvert.com/). It is about 40km from Bordeaux itself, and despite the noise on the first night, it's not a bad camp. There are about 400 odd pitches, and it is busy!!! It's set in a wooded area, which means that the sun and wind are not as big a problem as if we were on open ground. But there is electricity, and shower blocks, so everything's catered for. But do remember - it is camping, and you'll still need to supply some things yourself. BUT, there is a small supermarket on the site (Petite Casino) which is great for any essentials.
Side note here: When we arrived, the lovely Connie who took us to our pitch, told us there there is a Casino on the site. Not knowing the brand name really threw me, and I kept wondering if gambling was such a big thing here in France. Thank goodness I didn't say anything, but was informed by my husband a little later of what it was.

As we were leaving, there were easily 200 people walking on the path towards the beach, and more on the way too! And it is a fair old trek there and back. From the beach to the caravan door, is a half hour walk. (Tragic, I know!) But it is though some lovely woods, so not too bad. The walk to the beach itself is up a fairly steep dune, then it's downhill all the way from there. I am so horribly unfit, that I thought I was going to pass out, thankfully I didn't - that would have been bad!! Also, do remember - this is France - and they are far more liberal about their bodies than the Brits - it is not unusual for women to be on the beach topless - perhaps even playing a casual game of beach badminton. .... What the eyes have seen, cannot be unseen. LOL!! My 9 year old daughter was less than impressed.
