Today's travels took us into Bergerac. It is filled with lovely medieval buildings and streets that look like they've been untouched since time began! Right next to far more modern buildings that look almost out of place here! The river was beautiful, and had a huge fountain in it - much to the kid's amusement!
The town certainly had a very English feel to it! But the French people we spoke to were kind and very helpful.

| Narrow medieval streets |
| Medieval buildings, here in modern day! |
| No pushing your brother into the fountain! |
Grape vines even grow on the sides of the streets here!! The kids were tempted to 'steal' some grapes, but they weren't ready just yet! |
Fountain in the middle of the square! Just coming out of the pavement! |
| Of course the kids had to run through them! |
| And see who got the wettest! |
| Pretty bridge in Bergerac |
| Silly poses with the fountain! |
| And not to be outdone by his sister! |
| The full bridge and fountian |
| Medieval cobblestone streets |
| Even here there are vines growing!! |
| Errrr .... nice dress Joshua! |
| (Overheard) Table of Terror anyone? |
Not content with visiting just one place today, we had to see somewhere else too. So we tootled off to Prigonrieux (try saying
that one!!) It was also interesting - it also had very narrow medieval style streets, and a lot of middle eastern influence in the ancient architecture.
The cathedral is just amazing! Here's what Wiki say about St
Front's : Périgueux
Cathedral may refer either to the present Roman
Catholic cathedral
in the city of Périgueux,
France,
dedicated to Saint
Front (Cathédrale
Saint-Front de Périgueux),
which has been the cathedral since 1669, or to its predecessor, still
in operation as a church, dedicated to Saint
Stephen (Cathédrale
Saint-Étienne-de-la-Cité de Périgueux).
A church
was first built on the site in the 4th and 5th centuries.
We didn't go inside, but it was beautiful to look at!
| Vines even grow on the overpass!! |
| Lovely features on the roundabouts |
| Narrow Medieval Streets |
A very odd little building just outside a hotel - looks Medieval, but I can't find any info on it just yet. |
On the way back - the road was SO twisty! I don't think there was any straight road at all! It does make for tiring driving. |
