This morning, we didn't sleep in until 8am, instead we were up at 7:15am! We were determined to beat the traffic and actually find somewhere to park.
What an amazing place it is!! I took LOADS of pics. Some came out beautifully, others .... not so much. Also, with the delights of mobile internet, it has taken nearly an hour to load up these pics. Surfing the web, and looking for campsites is an easy task on the internet compared to loading pics and blogs. But all in a day's work! :D
The town was beautiful, but if you should ever visit, make sure you wear a good pair of walking shoes!! There are some SERIOUSLY steep hills! we meandered around the town, looked at the shops. Most were still closed as we got there at 9am - most open at 10am. .... I say most, because many businesses are also closed on a Wednesday. Yup, you read that correctly. So, they're not open on a Monday .... might be open for a bit on a Tuesday, closed on a Wednesday, Thursday!? Who knows!!

This little street was so slippery that we
all clung to the railings for fear of sliding
right to the bottom on our rears!! |
 |
| Phew! Made it to the bottom safely! |
 |
The view this sandstone house has must be
amazing!! |
 |
| The bell tower from street level |
 |
You really have to watch your step when
you walk here. High heals could be
fatal! I do wonder how many shoes have
walked over these stones to make them
so polished! |

We found the cows!! We've seen these
cows in people's gardens, and here they
are on display. They were lovely! |
 |
| And a whole family of piggies too! |
 |
Inside the cathedral, there's a square, as
with many other cathedrals. |
 |
| If these pillars could talk!! |
 |
How many other people have sat on the
benches around this square?! Since the
very start of time!! |
 |
| Anybody home?? |
 |
| Inside the cathedral. It was BEAUTIFUL! |
 |
The roof is so high, and just as ornate as
the rest of the church!! |
 |
| The carving on the wood is amazing! |

For 50c, one could hammer a thumb tack
into a stump of wood. I'm not entirely sure
why, but it was good fun anyways! |

A true story: The owner of the campsite here had some friends stay over off season. Now across the river, there is a canoe company, and they start up river, and end here in Sait-Foy-la-Grande. These friends said that they'd really like to do a canoe trip, but being off season, one has to phone and make arrangements. The camp owner knows the canoe trip company owner, as he sends people over there all the time, and it is a small town, after all. So, he called. .... The answer: No, can't do it this week, I'm too tired. End of conversation. And this sums France up in a nutshell.
